13

I guess since it's the last week of my 20s I'm nostalgic for the things of my youth. Especially the music of my youth.

The songs that make me happiest are ones that take me straight back to being 13 years old.  That's the age I was when I figured out that there was more to music than what was being played on the average radio station (107.3 KKRD... anyone?! The Hitman!!! The Goodnight Line?!?).

That's the age when I came to school Monday mornings haggard and hollow-eyed because I just HAD to stay up until 4 a.m. to watch 120 Minutes on MTV every week.  I can't think of anything I'm that devoted to these days.

Here are a few songs that I still love with all my almost 30 year old heart:

Matthew Sweet - Sick of Myself

Hole - Violet

Live - All Over You

Radiohead - High and Dry

Blur - The Universal

Sponge - Molly (Sixteen Candles)

Weezer - Say It Ain't So

  1. Weezer good God, I still love them, but Say It Ain't So is still on my top 10 favorite songs of all time. The part at like 3min16sec when he says "awakens" makes me swoon every time. I may be a little off on the time, I haven't hit rewind on my discman to hear that word on repeat in over a decade.
